Duncan Lawrie – A Different Approach to Banking

Duncan Lawrie – A Different Approach to Banking

6th June 2016

davidl2At Duncan Lawrie, we like to do banking differently. Our professional and boutique style offers a real alternative to everyday high street banking, for those looking for a more discreet and distinctive way to do business.

Private Banking

First established in London in 1971, we have 45 years’ experience and a historical commitment to enterprise. Tracing our roots back to 18th century international tea merchants, we understand the unique challenges behind every business endeavour.

250 years ago our forebears knew all too well that navigating the high seas was no walk inthe park. With those experiences embedded deep in our DNA, we fully appreciate the complexities of business life today.

We take a personal approach and view each proposition in the round, on its own merits. We’re not looking to tick boxes, but to partner you in fulfilling your ambitions.

We don’t rely on off-the-shelf financial products. We tailor flexible, bespoke lending solutions, including bridging, property development and investment-backed loans, to meet your precise requirements.

Wealth Management

davidlBased on your needs and aims, our wealth management services, available from the UK and the Isle of Man, are designed to build and safeguard your long-term prosperity through a combination of technical expertise, proactive thinking and personal interaction.

Client Focus

East Midlands full service branding agency, Champions (UK) plc, enjoyed steady growth throughout the downturn and the tough commercial period that followed. Facing increased demand for their services in 2014, they planned to double the size of their headquarters on the Leicestershire/ Nottinghamshire border.

Keen to help Champions build for the future, Duncan Lawrie set to work in devising holistic financial solutions to their complex requirements. Private Client Director, Courtney Kerkin said:

“Projects of this scale and ambition are rarely straightforward and this case presented its own particular challenges. With complex planning consents, a short timescale and a wide variety of builders and contractors involved, every aspect had to run like clockwork.

“As the project was set to create up to 70 new jobs, it carried with it the prospect of employment grant funding. We worked closely with Champions over several months to fulfil all the necessary criteria and, upon approval, we saw the process through to full grant delivery from the East Midlands Business Regional Growth Fund.”

In September 2015, the Rt. Hon. Kenneth Clarke QC officially opened the extended premises. Duncan Lawrie is enormously proud to have played an influential role in seeing the project though to fruition and allowing one of the area’s most dynamic businesses meet heavy demand and employ new staff.

Matthew Hayes, MD of Champions (UK) plc, said of the partnership, “Duncan Lawrie were not only highly flexible throughout a very complicated period but they took on our objectives as their own and stood with us until the job was done.”

“It felt like they were very much part of the Champions team and dealt with us so well on a personal level that I’m pleased to say their Account Manager has become a close family friend.”

Think of Duncan Lawrie as your collaborators and as people who share your hopes and ambitions. We take the time to get to know you and your objectives and we stay with you every step of the way.

Face Forward – Who are the inspirational women in your life?

Face Forward – Who are the inspirational women in your life?

17th July 2015

Yesterday marked the start of a brilliant event, Face Forward, a day of celebrating the inspirational women of the world. Particularly we focussed on the women who inspire us in our everyday lives.

We celebrated mothers, female scientists, women who overcame illness, great fitness transformations and various everyday heroes. More than anything we wanted to celebrate women who inspire us by beating the odds and coming out on top regardless of any factors set against them.

Some of the celebrated women this year include the U.S. Women’s Soccer Team who won the world cup this year, defying the stereotype that football is a male English sport and making many aspiring male footballers stand up, take noticeand be inspired.

We have also looked at Nicole Scherzinger and Maisie Williams, as  women who have worked incredibly hard to get where they are today. These two admirable ladies have also recently teamed up with Greenpeace to help with their campaign to save the Arctic.

Many people tweeted and shared stories about the inspirational women in their lives, showing the world women who had overcome cancer and are stronger than ever, gymnasts with disabilities or missing limbs, and the ideal woman to look up to, their mothers. With this kind of response, Face Forward ended up being a wonderful celebration of the most inspiring women we have heard of.

What is Men’s Health Week?

What is Men’s Health Week?

9th June 2014

Organised by the Men’s Health Forum, Men’s Health Week takes place from the 9th to the 15th June. The Men’s Health Forum is a charity based in England in Wales that was founded in 1994 to bring attention to male health issues. The MHF main area of work falls under carrying out research in to male health conditions, publishing reports and health information books and lobbying policy-makers.

This year’s Men’s Health Week will draw focus towards work and health. With more men facing unemployment due to the recession, statistics have suggested that there are major health implications due to this, mostly relating to stress, anxiety and depression. In addition to this, men with stressful jobs may find themselves with an increased risk of coronary heart disease and a higher change of premature mortality.

During the week, the MHF will be releasing the ‘Sick of Being Unemployed’ report highlighting how support services are failing to address the issues that unemployed men may be going through. Norman Lamb MP (the Minister for Care and Support) is reportedly speaking at the launch event, where he will highlight the need for a more integrated work and health support system.

In addition to this, the MHF is said to be releasing various other resources, including stress-busting tips and how to stay healthy at work. There are also various events that are planned by groups across the country, including a men’s only cookery club and 5-a-side football tournament.
